Lions coach Jim Schwartz isn't one to look ahead, but he took a minute on the first day back from the bye Tuesday to have his 6-2 team peek at the rest of its schedule. The Lions still don't know whether Jahivd Best will return from concussion problems this season, but coach Jim Schwartz said Tuesday the decision to re-sign running back Kevin Smith was made independent of concerns over Best's health. You can hear skepticism related to Smith all over the radio and TV and slowly spreading to the barrooms and boardrooms. Reflexively, we love to find fault with him. Bears victories are apocryphal, losses create football Armageddon. Some of the persistent doubt is valid, some of it isn't, but all of it represents the passion the Bears ignite in the NFL’s second-largest market.
